Originally Kitson Architecture were chosen to create a ground floor ‘Granny Annex’ for my mother due to her age and health status. Within the first few weeks of discussion with Ellen my mother sadly passed away. As a result the requirement we had was gone. Not long afterwards we decided to use our inheritance to extend our house and make some big improvements.

The team at Kitson worked closely with us to discuss our requirements and soon after we had the plans we were after. Not only did they listen to our needs, they also made some excellent suggestions.

The end result was a house that has transformed the way we live and interact as a family. We’ve gone from 4 to 5 bedrooms, 1 to 3 bathrooms (two en-suites), extended the kitchen and added a large breakfast bar, additional dining area and a snug, added a utility room, relocated the downstairs cloakroom, and build a useful study. All this without sacrificing any space. My favourite part must be the bi-fold doors leading out into the garden.

The kitchen area was transformed in to the central hub of the house. It’s the go to place for all meals, sitting in the adjoining snug or having summer parties with the bi-folds open. Creating the space to engage as a family is simply priceless, especially as we have two teenage sons!

From start to finish the whole process with Kitson was effortless. Kitson also managed the application for planning on our behalf and it went through first time. When there were any questions from our chosen builder, Ellen was happy to liaise with him directly to resolve any queries. For my wife and I the process was painless and we know we certainly made the right choice.

When you take on a project of this scale you need to not only know you’re in safe hands, you also need to feel supported – and we certainly did.

A big thank you to Ellen and the team at Kitson Architecture.
