AGGS Careers Evening

We were delighted to be invited to host a stand at The Altrincham Grammar School for Girls careers fair. It was a very busy night and we talked to many pupils and their families about routes to a career in architecture. Everybody we talked to was extremely enthusiastic and we were able to provide careers advice from the RIBA via a QR code! We also talked about how we have grown our business and the numerous sectors we work in illustrating what a varied profession it is. The sports hall was packed with over 40 companies and organisations showcasing numerous professions. We had a great time and hope to be back next year!

10th Birthday Party

In November 2022 KITSON Architecture celebrated its 10th birthday, so what better way to mark the occasion than a party at a local venue attended by clients and consultants from across the country, as well as a few local friendly faces. It was a fantastic evening catching up with everyone, having a few drinks, trying the local fare and, of course, our architecturally themed big 10th birthday cake.

KITSON Architecture have been located in Altrincham since its inception, and we were keen to host the party in the town full of people who have helped us from the start and introduce it to some new faces from around the country. As the company has developed so has Altrincham and it has become unrecognisable from the town it was 10 years ago and is now a vibrant social hub which we are proud to be part of.

Thanks to everyone who attended, and commiserations to those who couldn’t make it but hopefully we can meet up soon to keep celebrating our tenth year.

Grafton Centre Altrincham

A centre featuring ground floor retail and a 6 storey office block which was tired and sparsely occupied, Ellen Kitson was Project Architect whilst at The Ratcliff Partnership in bringing the building up-to-date by converting the office space into a hotel, and re-organising the retail spaces into units of much more appeal to tenants, with Home Bargains taking the largest unit.

BCSC Gold Award 2014

KITSON Architecture have won the coveted British Council of Shopping Centres Gold Award for their work on the refurbishment of the Aycliffe Shopping Centre in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

At the glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, outstanding retail developments are recognised by the industry. The awards are a major national event which mark the UK’s outstanding retail developments and celebrates the very best in retail property in both refurbishment and new build.

The judges comments highlighted the success of the project across all facets of the design and implementation stating;

This transformation has been a commercial success with short term temporary income and voids being replaced with long term tenancies, significantly enhancing net income.

However, the Jury was particularly struck by the partnership approach and the dramatic impact the refurbishment has had on the local community with the creation of a town centre of which they could be proud.
